A New London, Wisconsin, firm is working with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to recall about 50,000 drop-side cribs. The manufacturer is Simmons Juvenile Products. The drop-side cribs can detach or fail, which creates a space where the baby can get trapped, which can suffocate or strangle the child. Since the side can also fall out of position, the child could fall out of the crib. The CPSC received about 30 reports where the cribs have malfunctioned.
